BROMLEY SCHOOL
“Learning for an Exciting Life”
NEWSLETTER NO 2
22nd February 2012
Tena Koutou, Talofa Lava, Welcome.
Today we all remembered the tragic event of last year in the manner that is most appropriate for each one of us.
For some it will be simply another day, for others remembering a time that created huge disruption, property loss or even just plain scary, but for many it will be a time to remember great personal loss and will be a most painful remembrance.
Our aim again is to respect that time and honour the memory of the huge loss that many experienced.
Our Mufti Day and gold coin collection went to Kylie-Marie Cochrane and is again a chance to express our individuality and evidence ‘awhi’ to those around us.
I trust the year has started well for you all and join with us in believing for a far more settled productive year this year.
PROFESSIONAL TRIP TO USA
Many of you will know that three teachers had an amazing opportunity to extend their knowledge of teaching practice around our Reggio philosophy.
We will be holding parent community evenings to share our knowledge on this amazing approach to teaching and learning. However if you can’t wait and are keen to hear more please make a time to see Mrs Wilson, Miss Phillips or Miss Newth.
SWIMMING (MIDDLE & SENIOR CHILDREN ONLY)
Please remember to pay your $10 or begin your payment plan before the children go swimming next Monday.
We plan to involve the Junior’s in Term 4 when the pool availability increases.
If any child does not have togs available to them, please let the staff in the school office know.
ASB SCHOOL BANKING
We will be starting children’s school banking with ASB Bank next week. If you are interested in your child having regular banking please come into the office to collect a registration form. All children that open an ASB account this term will go into a draw to win one of 50 prizes of $20 each week. If your child is banking with ANZ you can choose to either continue with this but you will have to do the banking yourself, or change to ASB. Kylie from ASB will be at our assemblies over the next couple of weeks to promote the new scheme.
WEB SAFETY
On the Friday, 24th February, a 25-minute presentation called Web Safety will take place at school for the senior students. This will be presented by Dean Stewart and will focus on being safe on the computer. The aim is to inform children of safe technology use.
